The island of Gavdos is the southernmost point of Europe. It is located 32 nautical miles SE of Palaeochora in Selinos district and 26 nautical miles from Chora Sfakion.

The permanent population of the island during the winter months - is about 40 people. During the summer the visitors increase substantially this number.

The transport between Gavdos and Crete is done by ANENDYK boats, which operate among the seaside resorts of Selinos and Sfakia districts (Palaeochora, Sougia, Ag.Roumeli, Chora Sfakion). There is also the possibility to hire a Taxi Boat.

During the winter months, transport is realised by boat twice a week.

The island is an ideal place for relaxation. Tourist facilities are being improved every day and substructure works are also of major concern.

Completed Harbour Works:

The harbour works that operate since 1954, are the construction of a dock 35,00m in length and 6,00 in width at 'Karave', while the land zone has been concreted at a surface of about 120,00 square metres.

Harbour Works to be constructed:

Within the island's development framework, a study for the construction of anchorage at 'Karave' has been approved. It will consist of harbour, building and electromechanic facilities.
